We had another great evening at the 3rd annual Chamber Quiz Night with the very smart cars from Dublin Auto taking home the coveted title for the 3rd year in a row. They were made to work hard for the title this year and were a few points off the pace at the halfway point. In the end only a single point, the proverbial kick of a ball, separated them from the runners up - a team captained by David Gray (still not the Welsh singer). Ray Kerr’s team came in 3rd, and are now each the proud owners of an Orangina school bag. Tourism Ireland and the Doug Batson quartet were joint 4th with Doug’s team getting the nod as official 4th on alphabetical grounds! The debutant team from Warner Bros. came in a respectable 6th and each took home a voucher for the Irish Embassy which is sure to give them Happy Tummy’s to match their Happy Feet.

Winning Captain Angela O’Murrai revealed the secrets of success to the crowd upon accepting the trophy, and informed us all that the foursome have been competing together in such events for over 15 years….so with that sort of head start its no wonder they have swept the Boards at this event since its inception in 2004!

Our usual quizmaster Michael Monaghan failed a late fitness test and was replaced by his older wiser brother Cormac, who did a great job, even if he does say so himself, ably assisted by our correctors on the night, Anita Sands, Deirdre Brett, Karen Law, Damien Dupuy and John O’Dwyer.

Thanks very much to all who participated and especially to our Prize sponsors: Diageo, The Irish Embassy, Warner Bros. Canada, Delta Chelsea, Etobicoke Physiotherapy, Motts, Marketing Island and of course Waterford Wedgwood Canada Inc. Thanks also to Smitty, our intrepid photographer who joined us at very short notice. Smitty’s handy-work is attached for your perusal.

The WWCI trophy will soon be on display in PJ O’Brien’s where it will remain until we reconvene next November and do it all over again. Mark your calendars…..Nov 28th 2007. See you then!
