It was April 22nd and the Engineer's room at The Ontario Club was packed to capacity. It was quite obvious that all in attendance were there to see and hear, firsthand, what John Tory was all about.

Based on the performance of Ontario's Liberal government to date, this was the man who could be the next Premier of our fair province.

There was no doubt based on the feedback, that John's performance on the day met with a thumbs up, even from several dyed in the wool Liberals. He spoke with passion, sincerity and just a lot of straight talk and logic about what was needed in the days ahead. He had also abviously done his homework when he spoke about Ireland's Celtic Tiger and the lessons that could be learned for Ontario. His business experience also resonated well with the audience as he discussed how it was high time to bring some basic business acumen to the business of Government.

Eventho' Mr. Tory's assistant seemed to have him on a tight schedule, he managed to stick around after the luncheon and speak to everyone who wanted to bend his ear.

As a special thank you to Mr. Tory on behalf of the Chamber, fellow member Hugh Thompson presented him with one of his landscapes of Ireland - "The Road from Ballybunion". He was visibly touched by this magnanimous gift which he stated would have a place of pride in his office.

Another great event for the Chamber. We wish Mr. Tory very well for the future and thank him for taking time out from a busy schedule.
