On Friday, December 3rd, it seems that all roads led to P.J. O’Brien’s on Colbourne Street. The word was out that the Chamber, without the orchestra, was headed for that upstairs room that is now Party Headquarters. Over the years, the Chamber has had some wonderful gatherings upstairs at P.J.’s but the talent and camaraderie this year was second to none.

The glamorous Aideen O’Brien with the able backing of Paul Noonan got the show going with ballads and carols alike. The initial shyness of the audience wasn’t long in disappearing when it came to the old reliable such as Adeste Fideles and O Holy Night. President Ken Tracey thought he was actually in Church. As always, what’s a singsong or a party without the inimitable Peggy Delaney, who kept the show going. For the rest of the evening, the microphone was in great demand as crooners from all corners of Ireland sang their piece ‘for the cause’. The Guinness and cocktails were flowing and the hors d’oeuvres were just what the doctor ordered.

Special thanks to Doug Batson of Mott’s Canada for sponsoring the business card draw.

All in all, this was a superb evening of networking, camaraderie and just a chance to relax with good friends and business acquaintances.

The date is already in the book for the same time next year. Don’t miss it.
